Line length (ft) = (PSI − (height_ft × 0.5) − 1) ÷ resistance (lb/ft)Worked example. 12 PSI, 2 ft rise, 2.2 lb/ft line → (12 − 1 − 1) ÷ 2.2 = 4.5 ft.
Questions
One where the line's resistance plus a small margin for the faucet exactly offsets the keg pressure, so beer pours at roughly 1 foot per second without excess foam or a sluggish trickle.
Lifting beer against gravity from the keg to the faucet adds resistance of its own — roughly 0.5 PSI per foot of rise — which this calculator subtracts before dividing by the line's resistance per foot.
